SCAS UNISON - Wokingham Emergency Operations Centre Statement
Tuesday, 08 May 2012
SCAS UNISON Branch announcement in response to South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) statement "Wokingham Emergency Operations Centre".
(The SCAS statement can be found here: http://tinyurl.com/cqspp2g)
We are very disappointed by the decision taken by the Trust and the lack of involvement that we have had in the process prior to the announcement today.
UNISON is very much against any compulsory redundancies.
We have concerns over the resilience of the proposed structure and we have further concerns that this could compromise patient safety and may lead to increased 999 call answering times.
An extra-ordinary branch meeting has been called for Thursday 10th May 2012, for SCAS UNISON representatives to further discuss the position of our members in relation to the Wokingham EOC announcement.
An update will be provided in the coming days.
UNISON NHS pension ballot result
Monday, 30 April 2012
UNISON’s consultative ballot of its health members in England, Wales and Northern Ireland on changes to the NHS pension scheme, returned a low turnout of 14.8% of those eligible to vote. Of that 14.8% the result was close with 50.4% voting to reject and 49.5% to accept.
UNISON Head of Health, Christina McAnea, said:
“The low turnout coupled with the close vote shows there is no mandate to endorse the pensions’ proposals, but equally no mandate to take further industrial action.
